Happy New Year

The Pantone Color Institute just unveiled the 2017 Color of the Year: Greenery.

Working on the 2016 BOM.  I have finished the center medallion.  Need to remake one block.  Thinking dark purple sashing, but need to do some math to figure out what size.

My crazy pants project.....
I have started.
It is a very SMALL start, but it begins with one piece, right.
Started with 1/8th of a yard of each and starched heavily, then cut into 1.5" squares.  Thank you to a friend for the papers and the support.  The project calls for more than 17,000 hexagons, so this will definitely be a long term project

UFO Challenge

Excited about the UFO challenge.  You can read about it here.

Made a list, but I went all crazy pants.....
There are three entries per month.

  • Quilting
  • Knitting
  • Spinning
They announced the January number early.
I had the 12" blocks completed.  Thanks to the challenge, I now have the 24" blocks complete and have started the 18" blocks.  Still need to make 37 of the 6" blocks

UFO taming has begun....

Making Progress

Finished the third quilt top and it is off to the LAQ.  Didn't snap a picture of it, but this is an earlier photo.  Same pattern, as the other, but this one is flannel.

I have been working on a leader / ender project.  It was the left over bits from the Jelly Stars quilt.  The girls at the LQS helped pick out the color for the center stars (grey)  wanted to tone it down a bit.

Now that the Big 3 are done, it was time to catch up on Sangria.  I was WAY behind.
Can't wait for the rest of the fabric to come in for the finishing kit.  I think this quilt will be awesome.
The picture definitely doesn't do it justice.

Last year Fat Quarter Shop had a QAL for the Little Joys Quilt.  I made one and had big plans of making at least 2 more.  (yes, I bought LOTS of fabric for it)

Well This year, Inspired by Fabric is hosting a QAL.  One of the girls at the LQS is working on it and tempting us to join.  So today I downloaded all the clues and tossed the stash and think I will join.

Wishing you a VERY Merry Christmas.

Recent quilts

Finished two of three that I am trying to get done by the end of the month.
The first one is with the Stonehenge Gradations.  It is a gift for a friend of my moms.

This quilt has history.  A friend of my mom's is very ill.  She had hand embroidered blocks that her mom made.  Her mom passed away 20 years ago.  She is would like the blocks turned into a quilt to give her family before she passes away.  With help from friends at the LQS we were able to come up with a plan.  The top is finished and the quilter did an amazing job custom quilting.

Dropped the third quilt off at the quilts on Monday.
